Happy Girl

I finished EVERYTHING up for the new Lancaster Yarn Shop location, everything is priced, inventoried, and wrapped up all nice, and everything except the knitting furniture is in a big bin.
Little Junior is asleep, and I am off to paint the basement wall now! I know that sounds insane, but when I have a lot of art to paint, I miss making cool changes to the house. My craigslisting and freecycling tangent continues and the emptier the basement looks the better it gets.
It reminds me of when we first moved in, and nothing was on the 50's rec room side, so I would go down there and ROLLER SKATE!
Space is luxurious, that's for sure.

(thank you Sayra for posting this on your blog, it was fun!)

this is completely random, but I am stopping in at the Prince Street yarn shop, it seems weekly now. here I am with my birdie bag. I had it for sale on my etsy shop. I found it for 75cents! it's really neat. Rachel-Marie flipped when she saw it. It was worth every penny!!! Banana Republic sweater, part cashmere, 75 cents, JCrew cordoroys, a whopping $3. We have quite the thrift stores here is Lancaster)

The Big Secret is Out!!!!

I can finally make the big announcement!
The Lancaster Yarn Shop is opening a BIG NEW shop in Intercourse!
and Maggie French Folk Art will be there!!!!

Visiting Amish Country in Lancaster, Pennsylvania? Well, beginning
THIS Monday March 2, you can see my art, especially knitting inspired furniture, right in the heart of the tourist area, Intercourse, at Kitchen Kettle Village. The new shop is located on Rte 340 and is diagonally across from the famous fabric store, "The Old Country Store" and the People’s Place Quilt Museum and The Museum Shop
. It's also next to the beautiful Village Quilts!!!

My biggest thanks of all to Wendy for letting me paint for her shop, and for Rachel-Marie www.knittydirtygirl.com for inspiring my painting with her beautiful yarn. I have been painting these last couple months for the new shop, and it's been so fun. See the pic above for some of the things I'm bringing to the store. I've used my brightest colors and my coolest and sweetest sayings.

Lancaster Yarn Shop will maintain the beloved downtown Lancaster Prince Street Location. However, this new store in Intercourse makes it possible for thousands of tourists from all over the world to see what wonderful yarns LYS carries!

Including new stock! Alpaca, Addi Turbo knitting needles, Lantern Moon needles, Knit 1 Crochet 2, Harrisville yarns, Manos Del Uraguay yarn, Ty Dy sock yarn, new sock yarn, new buttons, new kits and magazines...

The new location is open Mon. - Sat. 9-5. 3519 Old Philadelphia Pike, Kitchen Kettle Village, Intercourse, PA 17534.

Opening Day is March 2nd!!!!

Look what I ordered!

oh what a tiny little picture! this is felt scraps from Etsy's AtomicBlue! I am using them on my new cabinet doors and magnets to create little felted houses with.
These are her scraps, they are just beautiful.
still can't tell the news.....and it's REALLY good!
in other news, I am freecycling/craiglisting things in my house and fixing up Max's basement playroom. It currently looks dreary and dreadful and packed full of toys and I'm slicking it out, and making it look more focused. I have a big list of items I need, many I need from IKEA, but I was clever and resourceful and I'm using paint I had, the existing curtains, etc.
I am dissing any "kid" oriented storage solutions and I'm going hardcore and buying metal stainless steel shelving.
I'm thinking of putting toys in clear laundry baskets that have dots cut out on them, putting all the games in a large storage unit, and putting the TV on an IKEA red PS unit...coolness for years to come, and nice and tidy and slick:-)

Howdy....

Where have I been? Well, I've been home, painting and painting for the greatest opportunity I've had in a long long time. but I can't explain it yet!!! it's a secret!!!
doesn't that just drive you nuts?
I should be able to post photos soon, and will definately be able to explain myself in about a week.
It's been an odd month for my friends and I here, kind of a nervous calm before the storm.
in the meantime, here's a pic taken by Max...before he dropped the camera:-(

Tomorrow Megan and Molly are coming over. The Gallagher sisters with their sweet boy, who Max will love to play with. I will be donning my paint covered apron when they leave, and might even head to Lowes.

I'm feeling good and thinking about buying a pair of red cowboy boots this spring. that's all my news...for now!

Happy Valentine's Day

well I had a weird one...Matt went to the grocery store at 11am, and came home nearly 5 hours later.
he then took me to dinner, and there was a new stereo installed in my car!
he was over at my parents installing it. my Dad, who was post-op from his pacemaker surgery, sat with him in the car this afternoon and helped. :-)
my Mom made Matt a ham sandwich. :-)

A visit to the village of Intercourse, PA

So me and the boys took advantage of the sunny afternoon and went to Intercourse, PA, home of Amish quilts and the Old Country Store, which is a famous fabric store. I got some neat fabric for my art there, including a red Moda fabric.
here are some more pics from the day:

some scenery along the way...
beautiful quilts at Village Quilts.

It was a neat day...I forgot about the whole tourist thing here. It was amazing...Feb 7 and they had someone directing parking, and hardly a place to park! Worth it though!

Photos from tonite at Square One....

a cold night in February, and a really nice night with the Indie girls, my friends, and our art. Stop by this month to check it out. All proceeds benefit Lancaster Area Habitat for Humanity.
Occy and Max were such cuties:-) and Ann's baby is really growing!
As for the pic of me, yes, I am wearing pigtails. My "creative remix" outfit is all thrift, except for the tights which were from my Grandma, still in the package- inherited them 10 years ago!
I keep buying my clothes too big, but I liked my outfit tonight. I tried to match my "blue gnome home" piece:-), which is in the background behind me to the left.

Come to our Show tonite at Square One Coffee....

super busy...

well things have been so busy around here! I sold the Central Market chair, so that was a lot of picking up at the Hotel Brunswick and dropping off to the owner.
Then I picked up my things (incl. 2 more chairs) at Building Character, and brought them to the State of the Art Gallery and Framery in East Petersburg.
I've also been getting the pieces I made ready for the show at Square One Coffee for Friday, and making lots of SUPER cool things for the Lancaster Yarn Shop.
Here's a pretty picture from Saturday afternoon. I picked up those little gnomes at State of the Art, made by Maggie Mowery. www.happysilence.etsy.com
Things will slow down a little tiny bit after Friday's show. The winter is going by so fast!
